James Maxwell

James Maxwell, CFA, is a Portfolio Manager and Equity Research Analyst at Tocqueville Asset Management L.P., where he co-manages the Tocqueville Phoenix Fund and the Tocqueville Select Fund. He has been with Tocqueville since 2009, advancing from equity analyst to his current leadership roles in portfolio management.

With specific expertise in small and mid-cap equities, Mr. Maxwell focuses on identifying investment opportunities within the U.S. equity markets, particularly for high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutional clients. His investment approach emphasizes fundamental analysis and value-driven strategies across a diverse set of industries and asset classes relevant to the mandates of the Phoenix and Select Funds.

Mr. Maxwell graduated Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University with a double major in Finance and Economics and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Prior to joining Tocqueville, he spent three years at Delafield Asset Management, a division of Reich & Tang Asset Management LLC, where he developed his foundation in equity analysis. His contributions to active portfolio management and long-term fund performance have established his reputation in the investment community.
