Jose Guardado

Jose Guardado is a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Tocqueville Asset Management L.P. in New York, where he focuses on investment strategy, security selection, and portfolio allocation for private clients and institutions. His investment practice covers multi-asset portfolios with particular expertise in U.S. equities, fixed income securities, and the financial services sector, drawing on a rigorous research-based approach.

Before joining Tocqueville in 2019, Guardado was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Northstar Capital Management, a role he held until its merger with Tocqueville. Earlier, he served as Director of U.S. Non-Bank Financial Institutions at Fitch Ratings and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as well as AXA Private Equity, providing him with a robust background in financial analysis and risk evaluation across credit and public market sectors.

Guardado holds an MPA in Finance and Economic Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, an MBA in Finance from California State University, and a BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.
