Annick Fah

Annick Gnock Fah is the Managing Director and Head of Asia at Contrarian Capital Management, based in Hong Kong. She leads the firm’s Asia operations and specializes in distressed and special situations investments across emerging markets, with a primary focus on Asia. Her responsibilities include overseeing complex cross-border restructurings, rescue financings, and managing high-stakes creditor negotiations, particularly in China and other emerging Asian markets.

With over 15 years of experience in emerging market distressed debt and equity investing, Ms. Gnock Fah has been instrumental in court-supervised and out-of-court restructurings in various jurisdictions. She has represented the firm on numerous ad hoc and steering committees, guiding landmark transactions such as US Chapter 11, Chapter 15, and UK Schemes of Arrangement processes. Prior to joining Contrarian Capital Management in 2007, she began her career as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan in New York, covering the Consumer, Retail, and Healthcare sectors.

Ms. Gnock Fah holds a BA in Business Administration and Finance (summa cum laude, Beta Gamma Sigma) from the University of Notre Dame, with a double major in East Asian Languages. She is noted for her linguistic proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, and French, and is active in the investment community as a member of the Emerging Markets Foundation. Her sector expertise encompasses distressed corporate debt, special situations, and cross-border restructuring, particularly within Asian emerging markets.
