William Raine

William Raine is Senior Managing Director and Co-Portfolio Manager at Contrarian Capital Management, L.L.C., based in Greenwich, CT. Since joining Contrarian in 2003, he has been responsible for sourcing and managing investments in corporate loans and bonds for the Contrarian Credit Fund, with a particular focus on distressed and post-restructuring credit across developed markets.

His investment expertise spans corporate distressed debt, including both loan and bond instruments, and he has served on the boards of several companies following restructurings, such as ACBL Holding Corporation, Mannok Holdings DAC, and Safety-Kleen, Inc. Raine's role involves identifying, analyzing, and managing complex situations in distressed corporate credit, leveraging his deep sector experience.

Prior to Contrarian, Raine worked in the Private Equity Group at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he handled investment screening, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring. He holds an MBA with Honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA with Honors from Oxford University, enabling him to deliver significant value in analyzing and investing in distressed and special situations within corporate credit markets.
