Varkki Chacko

Varkki Chacko is the Managing Principal and Chief Investment Officer at Credit Capital Investments LLC, based in New Jersey. He leads the firm's investment strategy, focusing on opportunities across the capital structure within publicly traded credit markets in the US and India, managing portfolios and overseeing research activities. His primary sectors include global credit, high-yield and investment-grade corporate bonds, with a distinct expertise in leveraged finance and proprietary credit trading.

Chacko’s distinguished career spans senior roles at top investment banks, most notably as Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he served as Co-Head of Global High Yield Research, Head of European and Asian Credit Research, and Head of Global Credit Strategy. He was previously Director at Salomon Brothers, concentrating on the leveraged finance markets, and has been recognized as a top-ranked credit analyst in multiple Institutional Investor and Euromoney polls. His innovative work in credit market indices underpins the iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond Fund ETF, and he holds patents in both financial and polymer sciences.

Chacko holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business, and bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.
