Tim Palmer

Tim Palmer is Senior Portfolio Manager at PRUDENT MAN ADVISORS, LLC (PMA Asset Management), based in Minneapolis, MN. In this capacity, he holds senior portfolio management responsibilities for institutional insurance clients and fixed income total return mandates, and co-leads the firm’s credit team overseeing research and trading in the corporate sectors of the fixed income market. His role emphasizes strategic portfolio management, credit research, and the incorporation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors to serve institutional investors such as insurance companies and public sector clients.

Palmer brings over three decades of investment industry experience, including prior leadership as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at TIAA Nuveen Asset Management, where he managed $20 billion in total return funds and multi-sector strategies, and as Senior Portfolio Manager at American Express (now Columbia). At PMA, his expertise extends across core, core-plus, strategic income, global, and multi-asset class mandates, with a particular focus on the fixed income and credit sectors.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics from the University of St. Thomas. Tim Palmer is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota, and is recognized for his contributions to investment process design, ESG investing, and institutional portfolio management.
