Patrick Heron

Patrick Heron is Managing Partner at Frazier Life Sciences, based in Menlo Park, CA, where he has led and co-led investments in more than 30 life sciences companies since joining the firm in 1999. In his current role, he is responsible for company formation, initial investments, and guiding portfolio strategy, with active governance through board roles at firms such as Alpha9 Therapeutics and MBX Biosciences.

Heron focuses primarily on biotechnology and pharmaceutical investments, targeting therapeutics and novel drug development across anti-infectives, dermatology, and neuroscience assets. His expertise covers early-stage startups as well as commercial-stage healthcare companies, and he has successfully stewarded investments that led to acquisitions by major pharma firms, including Eli Lilly, Roche, Allergan, and Valeant.

Prior to joining Frazier, Heron contributed to McKinsey & Company’s West Coast biotechnology consulting practice, advising on M&A, product launches, and strategy. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Phi Beta Kappa, Morehead Scholar) and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Heron’s leadership in life sciences investing has been recognized for shaping biotech innovation through both financial strategy and operational involvement.
