Jane Carten

Jane Carten is President, Director, and Portfolio Manager at Saturna Capital Corporation, based in Bellingham, Washington. In her role, she oversees Saturna’s daily operations, directs internal and external information systems, manages technology and marketing activities, and leads the firm’s continuing education program. She also serves as Portfolio Manager of the Saturna Sustainable Equity Fund, focusing on sustainable and values-based investment strategies.

Carten specializes in sustainable and responsible investing, with a significant focus on Sharia-compliant investment products and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) equities. She is recognized for building and guiding funds that align with clients’ ethical and religious values, such as the Amana Mutual Funds, which follow Islamic investment principles.

Jane Carten joined Saturna Capital in 1997. She holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Business and an MBA from Western Washington University. In addition to her executive leadership at Saturna, she serves on the Investment Company Institute Board of Governors, is Chair of ICI’s Small Funds Committee, participates on the SEC’s Asset Management Advisory Committee, and is active in several community and industry organizations.
