Monem Salam

Monem Salam serves as Director and Portfolio Manager at Saturna Capital Corporation, where he oversees the management of the Amana Income and Developing World Funds as well as investment management accounts. He also acts as Deputy Portfolio Manager of the Amana Growth Fund, focusing on Shariah-compliant strategies within global equities, with an emphasis on sustainable and Islamic finance sectors. Based in Bellingham, WA, he plays a key leadership role in advancing Saturna’s Islamic investment offerings and global client outreach.

Having joined Saturna Capital in 2003, Monem previously held leadership positions including Chief Investment Officer at ITG & Associates and was a representative for Morgan Stanley in Dallas before joining Saturna’s executive team. From 2012, he oversaw Saturna's Malaysian subsidiary, bringing an international perspective to the firm’s investment practices. His core expertise lies in portfolio management, Islamic finance, and developing world markets.

Monem holds a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Recognized for his thought leadership, he is an adjunct professor, frequent speaker at global Islamic finance conferences, and co-author of major texts on Islamic investing. He has been listed among the top 500 most influential leaders in the Islamic economy by ISLAMICA 500 for his contributions to ethical and faith-based investment advisory.
