Phelps McIlvaine

Phelps McIlvaine serves as Vice President, Director, and Portfolio Manager at Saturna Capital Corporation, based in Bellingham, WA. He is principally responsible for managing the Sextant Short-Term Bond Fund, Bond Income Fund, and the Idaho Tax-Exempt Fund, overseeing daily portfolio management and investment strategy with a focus on fixed income securities such as short- and intermediate-term bonds.

With a career at Saturna beginning in 1993, McIlvaine has played a pivotal role in leading the firm’s fixed income mutual fund offerings. Prior to joining Saturna, he was a hedge fund manager at Hickey Financial Services and engaged in US Treasury arbitrage trading at First National Bank of Chicago, bringing extensive experience in fixed income, municipal bonds, and capital markets.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Denver and attended Deerfield Academy.
