Kishore Rao

Kishore Rao is a Principal, Executive Committee member, Equity Investment Analyst, and Portfolio Manager at Sustainable Growth Advisers (SGA), based in Stamford, CT. He is a senior participant on SGA’s Investment Committee and currently co-manages several portfolios, including the US Large Cap Growth, Emerging Markets Growth, Global Growth, Global Mid Cap Growth, and International Growth portfolios. Kishore specializes in fundamental equity research with a particular focus on identifying high-quality, sustainable growth businesses, and is also actively involved in integrating ESG factors into the investment process.

His investment responsibilities span sectors such as technology, software, healthcare services, business services, and semiconductor equipment, leveraging his expertise gained from previous roles. Before joining SGA in 2004, Kishore was part of the investment team at Trident Capital, a venture capital firm where he managed portfolios concentrated in software, technology, and business services. Earlier, he founded and managed StreetEvents.com before its acquisition by Thomson Reuters, and served as an investment analyst at both Tiger Management and Wellington Management, focusing on healthcare and semiconductor sectors.

Kishore holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He has contributed to the investment industry not only through his active portfolio management and fundamental research but also by mentoring aspiring analysts through SGA’s internship program. He is recognized for his rigorous approach to identifying growth opportunities and his leadership in developing robust investment processes at SGA.
