Andrei Bolshakov

Andrei Bolshakov is a Managing Partner and General Partner at WEDGE Capital Management LLP, based in Charlotte, NC. With over 28 years of investment experience, he leads the firm as Director of Quantitative Research and serves on the Management Committee as well as the Investment Policy Committee. His key responsibilities include advancing quantitative investment strategies and overseeing portfolio management for institutional and private clients.

He specializes in quantitative equity research, portfolio optimization, and investment model development, with a particular focus on public equity markets and enhanced indexing strategies. Bolshakov has contributed to sector rotation models and multi-manager portfolio optimization, evidenced by his recent scholarly work on selectivity theory and information ratios in asset manager selection.

Prior to joining WEDGE Capital Management in 2006, Bolshakov managed strategic investments and quantitative tool development at Companion Capital Management, and earlier led the trade finance desk at Ural Foreign Trade Bank in Russia. He possesses a CFA charter and holds advanced degrees including an MBA from the University of South Carolina, a Master's in International Business from Ural State University of Economics, and a PhD-level degree in Economics and Mathematical Modeling from the Russian Academy of Science.
