New York State Teachers Retirement System
The New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS) is a public pension fund headquartered in Albany, New York, serving over 280,000 active members and nearly 147,000 retirees and beneficiaries. Established in 1921 by the New York State Legislature, NYSTRS administers defined benefit retirement, disability, and death benefits for public school teachers and administrators outside of New York City.
