James Pinkerton

James Pinkerton is Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Portfolio Management at Bailard, Inc., based in San Francisco, California. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of new real estate investments and managing the firm’s real estate portfolio, with a primary focus on value-add, opportunistic, and development multifamily strategies. His expertise extends across deal sourcing, due diligence, and asset management, ensuring the strategic growth and performance of Bailard’s real estate holdings.

Prior to joining Bailard in 2017, James held senior roles at Tishman Speyer, where he managed acquisition, disposition, and recapitalization activities for both core and core-plus investment funds, and led portfolio management initiatives across major US markets. Earlier in his career, he began as a portfolio analyst at State Street Australia, further building his foundation in institutional investment management.

James holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance and Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney. He also serves on the North America Advisory Board for his alma mater, reflecting his commitment to mentoring and advancing the industry. Throughout his career, James has been recognized for his strategic thinking, rigorous financial analysis, and leadership in driving innovation in real estate investment management.
