Carolyn Chan

Carolyn Chan is a Portfolio Manager at Polen Capital Management LLC, based in London, and joined in February 2024 as part of Polen Capital’s acquisition of Somerset Capital Management’s UK fund range. She is responsible for co-managing the Asia Dividend Growth and Asia Income strategies, focusing primarily on high-quality, income-generating equities in Asian and emerging markets, excluding Japan. Her role involves fundamental research, portfolio construction, and long-term capital preservation for institutional clients tallied to specific mandates within Asian equities.

Chan brings more than 30 years of industry experience, most recently as Investment Manager at Somerset Capital Management, where she co-managed the Somerset Asia Income Fund and developed broad expertise in Asian equities and dividend income investing. Prior to that, she held senior investment roles at Liontrust Asset Management, including launching and managing their Asia Income Fund, and spent 18 years in Asian equity sales at leading firms such as ING Barings, Citigroup, and Daiwa Securities.

She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham and is recognized for her in-depth, bottom-up approach to Asian market equities. Carolyn Chan’s track record highlights her contributions to emerging markets portfolio management and her ability to deliver income-focused, risk-adjusted returns through varying market cycles.
