Walt Pearson

Walt Pearson served as a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Brown Capital Management LLC from 2005 until his retirement in June 2024, where he was a key member of the firm's Management Committee and led investment strategies for the Mid Company Team. His responsibilities included co-managing the Mid Company Fund, overseeing research, and managing portfolios primarily focused on mid-cap growth equities within both domestic and international sectors.

Over his career, Pearson developed deep expertise in growth equity investing, particularly in mid-sized companies; before joining Brown Capital, he held senior positions as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Putnam Investments and Alliance Bernstein Capital Management. He has also demonstrated leadership in the investment industry, including founding and presiding over the National Association of Securities Professionals’ Boston chapter and contributing to various industry boards and educational initiatives.

Pearson holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Management (cum laude) from St. Francis College. His distinguished career is marked by both investment expertise and commitment to mentoring others, and he has actively supported investment committees, entrepreneurship programs, and nonprofit boards in the Baltimore and Boston regions.
